Poetry Stop

In the early hours of this morning, I woke up to the sounds of rain. It was such a peaceful moment as I sat up and watched the rain for while, that I felt inspired to write a poem. My poems are not always great but I do kind of like this one…

Pre-dawn hush
Just me and the rain;
Much needed rain.

I listen as it rat a tat tats
Against the window pane,
Watch as it refreshes
The burnt, dry earth.

Lightning forks
Illuminate the dusky sky:
Lighting up just for me,
Everyone else
Lost in their dreams.

I lie back down,
And listen to the gentle drumming,
Drifting off to sleep
To this rainy lullaby.

The world seeming peaceful,
Quiet and Beautiful,
and not so harsh somehow.
